Over a Decade of Experience
“I believe every student, no matter who they are, no matter their circumstances, has the ability to be successful in this process. There is a school and program out there for every student.”
- Skyler Adams, MS
Co-Founder and CEO, Skyler Adams started Adams Admissions Consulting in 2024 with his wife, Rocio Mendez-Rozo. With over a decade of admissions experience, Skyler has read and rendered admissions decisions for some of the most competitive academic programs in the world. Skyler previously served as associate director of admissions at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and assistant director of admissions in Northwestern University’s undergraduate admissions office. He also has a Master’s in Higher Education Administration and Policy with an emphasis on university admissions.
Skyler has extensive experience in admissions consulting, taking a personal approach to advising and supporting candidates and families as they navigate the university admissions process. Skyler has successfully helped students get admitted to MIT, Yale, Berkeley, UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern University, and more.
Skyler is also passionate about college access, and from Adams Admissions Consulting’s inception, supporting low-income, first-generation students has always been core to the company’s mission. Skyler also serves as a board member for the college access nonprofit, Green Halo Scholars.
When Skyler is not helping students on their applications, he loves hanging out with his two pups, Melo and Curly, and his amazing wife, Rocio.
Co-Founder and COO, Rocio Mendez-Rozo started Adams Admissions Consulting to help build support and services for high school students with minoritized identities, particularly those who are Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), first generation, and lower income. As a first-generation college student who came from a lower-income background herself, navigating the college admission process was overwhelming and at times, alienating. With the help of mentors and other professors of color, she found her calling in higher education and later went on to receive her Master’s in Higher Education Administration and Policy at Northwestern University, where she also completed her undergraduate degree in English and Latinx Studies.
Rocio has worked in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, specializing in copywriting, and more recently, working as a director for an experiential education nonprofit in Chicago called Chicago Semester. During her time at Chicago Semester, she has had the privilege of working as a professor in a professional seminar course, a DEI course on racial segregation in Chicago, as well as a course on creativity and calling at Trinity Christian College.
During her free time, she loves spending time outside with her pups and husband Skyler, and going salsa dancing.
A commitment to educational access for all students
Skyler and Rocio are unwavering in their commitment to breaking down higher educational barriers and fostering equitable educational access for students from all backgrounds. We recognize the systemic challenges that often hinder minoritized communities from accessing quality higher education and receiving support throughout the application process. As such, our mission is to offer inclusive and empowering services that not only provide resources, but also cultivates a supportive environment for students and their families.
At Adams Admissions Consulting, we are actively working to dismantle inequities in education by amplifying diverse voices, offering tailored support services, and fostering a sense of belonging. From our own experiences as first-generation and lower income college students, we strive to empower students on their educational journey, ensuring that every individual we work with has the opportunity to thrive and succeed.
